About Mars, PA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Mars, PA is a small town with a lot of personality.  Citizens of this town refer to themselves as “Martians” and there is a space ship prominently displayed downtown which has become a roadside attraction.  Mars is said to be named after the planet Mars because the wife of the founder (Samuel Parks) was fascinated with outer space.  Others argue that it is shortening of “Marshall” which is the name of a man who helped Parks start the town by building a post office.  Either way, it’s an unusual name that attracts attention.  The relatively mild weather with annual lows around 21 degrees and highs around 87 degrees makes this a nice place to live and visit.

The unique name of this town has drawn some interest over the years.  For example, the children of Mars Elementary School were invited to the premiere of the animated Disney film Mars Needs Moms in 2011.  Also, a Kraft commercial as well as scenes of Kingpin and The Prince of Pennsylvania were filmed here.  The idyllic look of the town and historical buildings, along with the generally nice weather (compared to other Northeastern towns) makes it a great place to film movies and commercials.

Notable “Martians” including The Walking Dead’s Gino Crognale, 1940’s actor and playwright William and Elythe and actress and director Jillian O’Neill.  Considering that the population was 1,600 in 2010, this is actually impressive.  This town is pretty, the weather is nice and the former citizens were a bit quirky.   All in all, it’s an example of small-town America at its best.
