About Evans City, PA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Evans City is a small community in a valley surrounded by a beautiful, hilly landscape. Located just outside of Pittsburgh, it is a convenient suburb for commuters. Evans City a quaint small town with a lot of charm, moderate weather, and a lot of history.
What is now Evans City was a popular campsite for American Indians and they are the ones who named the creek running through the community, “Big Beaver Run?” The setting of valleys, creeks, rivers and hills makes watching the seasons change in Evans City an obvious choice for those early Americans. It was later settled and in its early years, the community was referred to as "Boggs' Mill" and then “Evansburg” after Thomas B. Evans, who bought and renovated the original Boggs' Mill.
It is an idyllic country area with mild weather and beautiful views and, because of that has had the good fortune of being used a film location. Although many think that the cemetery scenes in “The Night of the Living Dead” were filmed here, that cemetery is actually located in nearby Jackson Township. However, it is a fact that it got its “15 minutes of fame” in 1973 when the film The Crazies was filmed there. Because of the area’s history with zombie movies, The Living Dead Museum and Gift Shop is a great place to learn all about the cultural impact of zombie movies and other zombie-related media.
Evans City is certainly no bustling metropolis but it does have some great things to offer. For example, Osiris Wellness and Day Spa is a great place to go relax, unwind, and have a “mini vacation.” Surrounded by woods and sitting on many acres of land, it is a little oasis in the country that is well worth a visit whether you come in the warmth of the summer or the colder weather of winter.
